The Pacific ocean is home to a multitude of whale species. The Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) and Grey Whale (Eschrichtius robustus) are most commonly seen off the coast of California as they follow their migration pattern each year. The third whale, the North Pacific Right Whale (Eubalaena japonica) is most commonly found off the coast of Alaska. All three whales are on the endangered species list, the North Pacific Right Whale being number two on the list, deeming it critically endangered. Major threats to these whales are commercial fishing and other human impacts. Save the whales!
