You Are What Your Food Eats

You Are What Your Food Eats

There is so much trash in the ocean that there is a floating island of garbage the size of Texas floating around amongst the currents. As this trash breaks down into microtrash many marine critters misidentify the trash as a tasty snack or simply gobble it down along with their snack. As predators feed on their prey that have tummies full of plastic bits, the garbage works its way down the food chain to the big fish that we eat. And it doesn’t stop there. You are what your food eats, if the tuna that we love is feasting on trash, that trash is indigestible and goes nowhere, and we can’t be certain that all of it gets removed in the gutting process. Thus, if our food is eating trash, we too are eating trash.
