Photoshop Scientists believe intelligent alien life is likely to exist, but no evidence of it has yet been discovered. This apparent contradiction is called the Fermi Paradox, named after the physicist Enrico Fermi. This illustration somewhat satirically depicts one possible solution to the paradox, in which an alien is aware of the signals sent out from Earth but chooses not to respond. The illustration is intended to accompany a hypothetical article discussing the Fermi Paradox.
