Sophie Wood Brinker

Watercolor, Gouache Borage (Borago officinalis) is currently blooming all over my garden. The bright blue star-shaped petals stand out amongst a sea of green leaves. The name borage comes from the Irish word borrach, which translates to courage. The plant is thought to bring strength to the heart and help us feel brave in the face of sadness and hardship. I hope to translate a bit of that courage through this painting.
