Pen & Ink, Gouache, Graphite My partner is a biologist and has been teaching me about the importance of studying and understanding bees. His collection of pinned bees drew my attention so I used one of them as subject matter for this trompe l’oeil. Through pinning and closely observing bees, we can learn so much about their color patterns, wing venation, morphology, and taxonomy.
