My interest in science illustration was sparked by immersive field trips to geological sites during my undergraduate studies at UC Davis. During these trips, I was absorbed in portraying the details in the outcrops of serpentine and blueschist. My professor took note of the level of detail in my drawings, and suggested that I might be interested in pursuing science illustration as a career. I took the suggestion to heart and am now doing so by participating in the CSUMB Science Illustration program where I continue to refine my skill as an artist and learn more about subjects in entomology, botany and marine life. I strive to make realistic illustrations but still maintain my stylistic approach in hopes of sparking curiosity in those who view them to go out and learn more about them just as I do!
