Project Description
Tide Pool Moment (Anthopleura sola)
Dana Smith
Watercolor
During low tide in the Monterey tide pools, a common sight is sunburst anemones surrounded by black turban snail shells. Many of the shells are occupied by roaming blue band hermit crabs, giving the scene a shimmering, wiggly quality that’s fun to watch. The contrast of the purple-black shells against the green of the anemones is always eye catching.
