Pen & Ink, Scratchboard A piece inspired by the creatures I find at work. I had a pet mantis (that I later released as she too laid some eggs) and became more fascinated by the different species in this family. This piece was inspired by a video of a mantis enthusiast showcasing the threat stance of all the species in his care. From left to right an Orchid mantis (Hymenopus coronatus), Mediterranean mantis (Iris oratoria), and Wandering violin mantis (Gongylus gongylodes) are about ready to throw down with anything foolish enough to challenge them.
